A thought for tonight

"Even if we were simply to surrender reality and conclude that killing savable animals cannot be ended, killing animals would still not be ethical, merciful, or defensible. Animal lovers would still be morally bound to reject it. Any "practical" or utilitarian consideration about killing cannot hold sway over an animal's right to live. Just as other social movements reject the "practical" when it violates the rights of individuals for which they advocate, we, too, should reject the idea that killing animals is acceptable because of the claim that there are "too many" for the "too few homes which are available." Simply put, killing healthy or treatable animals is immoral."

Christmas is 23 days away!

I'm almost done with the gift-shopping. I'm quite sad that I wasn't able to go with my initial gift plans due to the unforeseen taxes deducted to my salary. It was quite inevitable with this kind of constraint.

Well, that plus a number of figures that suddenly arrived lol.

Ahhh it must be really good to have lots and lots of money! Like the person who won the lotto recently -- a whopping 700+M pesos!

If I had that much money, I'd keep 600M in the bank and put it in time deposit and live off on the interest I'd get every quarter. The 100+M will be spent on stuff, of course. I'd get a modest house, preferably in the rural areas so my dogs can have a nice, large running space, and I can afford more pets too lol.

I'd also get a car. Like a Civic. Or an Evo. Or my dream car, a Beetle. Nothing too extravagant hehe.

Then I'll just treat my family to whatever they want.

Browsing through today's rss feeds, I stumbled upon a site that piqued my interest.

A photographer, Joshua Hoffine, has managed to capture some of the things that only appear in my nightmares. Scary, yes, but I find them artistic.

Feels like insomnia~ oohhh~

It's almost 2am and yet i can still feel the gears inside my head going at full speed as if someone just spilled the greasiest grease in there and lubricated everything.

And it sucks. Especially when I've had a bad day and I just want to sleep it all off.

One of my main problems is that there's been an annualization of income tax at work and when they gave me my pay slip, I saw that my withholding tax (additional tax included) amounted to more than 70% of my pay this month. Adding the other deductibles, I'm pretty much left with just 20% of my salary until the next month. (We get paid once a month.)

And so I am broke. With more than one thing to pay for. Sigh. If only I've been born under a lucky star, I might win the lotto and live happily ever after.

Speaking of happy, I've read one too many times that one of man's ultimate (if not the ultimate) goal is to find happiness.

A fine goal indeed.

But what if man was never intended to be happy?

And with that thought, I shall resume to forcing myself to go back to sleep.
